Held in the sports hall, the event was designed to give students a taste of what next summer’s real results day will feel like. Each student received an envelope containing their mock grades, creating a powerful and reflective moment as they opened them surrounded by friends and staff.

The experience was not only about results, it was about recognising progress, setting future goals, and building the resilience and motivation needed for Year 11. Staff were on hand to offer congratulations, support, and next steps to help each student make the most of the year ahead.

Well done to Year 10 for the maturity and ambition shown today. This is just the beginning. We’re proud of you, and excited for what’s to come.

A huge well done goes to Mr Kunnassery for his excellent planning and coordination of the day — from the basketball to the relay races, every event ran seamlessly. Thanks also to all staff who supported throughout the day and encouraged students to get involved and give their best.

One of the highlights of the day was, as always, the staff race. Congratulations to Mr Hinton for his impressive victory, earning bragging rights for the year! Commiserations to Mr Roylance, who gave it his all, better luck next year!

We are incredibly proud to share that Co-op Academy Belle Vue has officially been awarded the School of Character Quality Mark by the Association for Character Education.

Dee spoke passionately about her journey as a writer, the importance of developing self-confidence, and the powerful, positive messages woven through her books. Her words truly resonated with our students, sparking excitement and meaningful conversation.

Copies of her books are already flying off the library shelves, and it’s clear that her visit has left a lasting impression. We’re certain her stories – and the discussions they’ve inspired – will continue to be shared amongst our students for a long time to come.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore and embrace their changing voices with confidence. Surrounded by music and encouragement, they performed with great enthusiasm and showed real courage in stepping outside their comfort zones.

It was a joyful and inspiring afternoon, and the boys truly rose to the occasion.

The team showed incredible determination, teamwork and skill throughout the match, securing their well-earned place in the final. Spirits were high, and the atmosphere was electric as the girls pushed through a tough game to come out on top.

Throughout the day, students were guided by current medical students who hosted a question and answer session, as well as four engaging and interactive workshops.

The first workshop focused on medical ethics, where students worked in teams to explore real-life scenarios faced by doctors, considering the difficult ethical decisions that must sometimes be made in clinical practice.

In the diagnostics session, students stepped into the role of A&E doctors, assessing mock patients by examining vital signs including blood pressure, oxygen levels, and interpreting ECG results.

Next, during the emergency medical assistance workshop, students were introduced to life-saving techniques such as the recovery position, CPR, and how to respond to a choking emergency.

Finally, the anatomy workshop delved into the complexities of the human brain. Students learnt about treatments for brain injuries and discovered how modern prosthetic limbs can be controlled by the brain using nerve impulses. A plastic claw was used to demonstrate how such technology enables patients to control external devices with their thoughts.

The day provided an inspiring and hands-on experience, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm amongst the students for potential careers in the medical field.

People in the room during an exam are called invigilators. They are there to run the exam and make sure all the rules are followed. They can help if you are unsure about anything but cannot help with the questions in the exam.

Exam Conditions – What you must and must not do during an exam.

Students MUST:

• Switch off mobile phones and leave them in their bag in the auditorium. If you forget to do this you must hand your phone in to an invigilator in the exam room;

• Switch off all electronic devices, watches and earbuds and leave these in their bag in the auditorium. If you forget to do this you must hand your phone in to an invigilator in the exam room;

• Leave bags and coats in the auditorium;

• Empty pockets of all notes and paper;

• Enter the exam room in silence. Exam conditions start as soon as students enter the exam room;

• Sit quietly while question papers and equipment are given out;

• wait for the invigilators to start the exam;

• Start writing only when told to do so by the invigilator;

• Follow all instructions given by the invigilator;

• Raise their hand if they have a question and wait for the invigilator;

• Stop writing immediately when asked to by the invigilator;

• Only leave the room when the invigilator dismisses the row;

• Remain silent until outside of the exam room.

Students MUST NOT:

• Have drinks or food in the exam room except for water in a clear bottle with no label or writing on;

• Communicate with any other student in any way during the exam. This includes turning around, making gestures and making eye contact with other students.

The day began with the much-anticipated whole-school Golden Ticket Raffle, where students entered their golden tickets—earned through outstanding effort and behaviour—into a draw for the chance to win prizes worth over £2,000. The excitement was palpable as winners were announced, with prizes ranging from gift vouchers to tech gadgets.

Next, form groups went head-to-head in the Big Belle Vue Christmas Quiz of the Year. Packed with festive trivia and challenges, the quiz sparked team spirit and healthy competition, with the winning form receiving a special prize.

Students then gathered for a Christmas Community Lunch, complete with a full traditional Christmas dinner provided by the academy's talented catering team. Crackers, jokes, and plenty of festive cheer created a warm and inclusive atmosphere as everyone came together to celebrate the end of the term.

Adding a touch of magic to the day, students were treated to a mesmerising performance by Joe the Magician, whose dazzling card tricks left the audience amazed and entertained.

The day concluded with a whole-school reflection to recognise the achievements and hard work of students throughout the term. Highlights included the draw of five winners from the Standards Card Prize Draw, where blank standards cards earned students a chance to win an exciting trip next term. The final moment of anticipation was the announcement of the winner of the 40-inch TV for maintaining 100% attendance during the final week of term—congratulations to Eyad in Year 7!

The Rewards Day perfectly captured the spirit of Co-op Academy Belle Vue, celebrating the CARE principles and fostering a sense of community, achievement, and enjoyment. It was a fantastic way to close the term and set the tone for continued success in the new year.

As part of our celebrations, we’re introducing a weekly attendance incentive to encourage excellent attendance. Every day during the 12 Days of Christmas, one lucky student will win a £10 voucher for having 100% attendance in the previous week.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to stay motivated, attend every day, and be rewarded for their consistency and commitment to learning.

During the community lunch, students had the chance to engage directly with the players, hearing first-hand about their journeys in professional sports. Starting this week, Year 10 students will have the opportunity to meet with a dedicated careers advisor to explore their interests, strengths, and aspirations. During these sessions, students will receive tailored advice on subjects such as further education, apprenticeships, work experience, and long-term career goals.

Why Careers Guidance Matters

Careers guidance is an essential part of preparing students for life beyond school. These meetings aim to:

• Help students understand their options after GCSEs.
• Identify skills and interests that align with potential career paths.
• Build confidence and knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures.

By offering these personalised meetings, we empower students to take ownership of their education and career planning, ensuring they have the tools to achieve their ambitions.

How It Works

• When? Sessions will take place during the school day, and each meeting will last approximately 20–30 minutes. Each student is given an appointment logged on their Arbor timetable and communicated in Ambition Briefing.
• Who? All Year 10 students will meet with a trained careers advisor, who will provide expert guidance tailored to their individual needs.
• What Next? Students will leave the meeting with actionable steps and resources to help them explore their options further.

Since opening in 2021, Co-op Academy Belle Vue has rapidly developed a robust careers programme, meeting all relevant Gatsby Benchmarks. The school has successfully created an environment where students receive comprehensive support in making informed decisions about their futures.

Key highlights of the programme include a well-developed careers curriculum, strong engagement with local employers and universities, and innovative initiatives such as work experience placements and mock interviews.

Key strengths identified in the report include:

• Leadership and Management: The academy's CEIAG programme was developed from scratch, receiving significant input from the Co-op Academies Trust Director of CEIAG. The programme has been continuously improved, reflecting feedback from staff, students, parents, and the local community. Regular communication and updates ensure all staff are informed and involved in the careers strategy.

• Comprehensive Careers Curriculum: Careers education is embedded within the CARE curriculum, offering students eight lessons per year that build on previous learning. The programme includes innovative initiatives like the “Community Conversations” and a successful careers fair with over 40 exhibitors. Students also benefit from the Unifrog platform, enabling them to conduct their own research and take additional courses.

• Employer and Community Engagement: The school has developed strong links with local employers and higher education institutions. Students have opportunities for work experience, mock interviews, and visits to universities. The academy's efforts in promoting diverse career paths and challenging stereotypes were also commended.

• Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement: The CEIAG programme is rigorously quality assured, with regular reviews and updates based on feedback from students, staff, and parents. The school's recent Outstanding OFSTED report highlighted the positive impact of its careers programme.

Under the guidance of dedicated  staff, the expedition commenced with enthusiasm as students embarked on their journey into the tranquil wilderness of Ashworth Valley. Armed with essential skills in navigation and teamwork, they navigated challenging terrain, demonstrating their ability to overcome obstacles with determination and unity.

"Our students exemplified our academy's CARE principles throughout the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition," commented Mr Haste, who supervised the journey. "They displayed ambition, cooperation and respect, and a deep commitment to supporting one another."

Throughout the day, students trekked along scenic trails, soaking in the natural beauty of Ashworth Valley's rolling hills and verdant landscapes. The expedition not only tested their physical endurance but also provided opportunities for personal growth.

As evening descended, the focus shifted to setting up camp, where students worked collaboratively to pitch tents, prepare meals, and establish a comfortable campsite. The overnight stay under the starlit sky fostered strong bonds amongst the group, as they shared stories and experiences while embracing the tranquillity of the natural environment.

Reflecting on their achievement, one student stated, "The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition was a challenging yet rewarding experience. It taught me resilience and the importance of teamwork. I feel proud to have completed this journey with my peers from the academy."

The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award program aligns closely with Co-op Academy Belle Vue's commitment to holistic education, emphasising personal development, leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for nature. As students returned from their expedition, they brought back not only memories but also invaluable lessons in perseverance, teamwork, and respect for the environment. Tech We Can is a charity with a mission to attract more young people, particularly girls, into technology roles. As technology advances at an extraordinary rate and its role in our lives continues to grow, it is vital to educate and excite young people about technology and the people who develop it from an early age.

Tech We Can's educational resources focus on showcasing women role models working in technology, aiming to tackle stereotypes before they set in. However, these resources are suitable for all young people and emphasise the importance of inclusivity.

Instead of teaching digital skills directly, Tech We Can focusses on young people's passions, demonstrating how their favourite subjects and hobbies such as sports, food, art, films, and toys can lead to future careers in technology.

During Su's session, she highlighted the vast array of tech careers available and shared her impressive experience in the industry, inspiring our students to explore the exciting opportunities within STEM fields.
