  • The Manchester Giants join us for Family Dining

    Published 31/03/23

The Manchester Giants, competing in the top-tier British Basketball League, spent Wednesday and Thursday training in our sports hall ahead of their upcoming games against Plymouth City Patriots, Caledonia Gladiators and Cheshire Phoenix. We can’t wait to show our support at these games as the Giants have very kindly given tickets to our students and staff.

After they had finished training, The Giants joined us for a very special Family Dining. They spent the time chatting with our students before everyone did a Manchester Giants themed basketball quiz. Well done to our winners, 8E, who scored an impressive 100%!

The Manchester Giants then returned to our sports hall to coach our students on dribbling, passing and shooting. A big thank you to the Giants for supporting and inspiring our students.

    Published 03/03/23

On Wednesday 1 March, we opened our doors for the official Opening Gala of our brand new building on Hyde Road, East Manchester.

With local residents, parents, staff and community members in attendance, the night included tours of the multi-million pound facilities, student performances and talks from colleagues, including a speech from the Co-op’s CEO, Shirine Khoury-Haq.

Our new building has capacity for 1200 students, serving the East Manchester community. It consists of a three-storey main building including reception, community hub, library and dining hall, with teaching and drama blocks. It boasts state of the art sports facilities with Sports England-standard pitches and a multi-use games area.

The building was constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine, working with Co-op Academies Trust and Manchester City Council. The partnership between the building developers, Council and Trust won the Best Framework Collaboration Project by the Pagabo Awards in 2022.
