GCSE Results 2026: An Exceptional First Set of Outcomes

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the GCSE results achieved by the Class of 2026 at Co-op Academy Belle Vue.

As our first ever GCSE cohort, and our Class of 2026 have made academic history. Their results represent an exceptional milestone for our school and, most importantly, demonstrate what our students can achieve through ambition, excellent teaching, hard work and the support of our families and wider community.

Across the academy, students achieved outcomes substantially above the latest available national benchmarks in many of the key measures used to judge secondary school performance.

Attainment significantly above the national average

Our Attainment 8 score was 53.6.

For context, the latest published national data for 2025 shows that regional Attainment 8 averages ranged from 44.1 to 50.8, placing our first cohort's attainment above even the highest regional average reported nationally.

This is an outstanding achievement for our students and reflects strong performance across the curriculum rather than success being concentrated in one or two subjects.

80% achieved grade 4+ in both English and maths

One of the most important measures for any secondary school is the proportion of students securing strong foundations in both English and mathematics.

At Belle Vue, 79.7% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 94 students reaching this benchmark. Even more impressively, 62.7% achieved grade 5 or above in both subjects.

Exceptional performance in English

English was a particular strength. An extraordinary 90.7% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English, while 79.7% achieved grade 5 or above. Furthermore, 44.1% of the cohort achieved grades 7–9 in English.

The average grade within the English Attainment 8 element was approximately 6.1, compared with 4.95 in the comparison dataset used within SISRA.

These outcomes demonstrate both the strength of literacy at the academy and the exceptional achievement of students at the very highest grades.

Strong mathematics outcomes

Mathematics outcomes were also extremely strong, with 80.5% of students achieving grade 4 or above and 67.8% achieving grade 5 or above.

This is particularly significant given the national picture. The 2025 National Reference Test found that around 70.8% of students nationally were expected to perform at grade 4+ in mathematics.

Our results therefore demonstrate that a very high proportion of Belle Vue students leave us having secured the mathematical knowledge and qualifications needed for their next stage of education, employment or training.

More than three quarters secured five standard passes including English and maths

75.4% of our students achieved five standard passes including English and maths, while 59.3% achieved five strong passes including English and maths.

These outcomes matter because they demonstrate the breadth of achievement across our curriculum: students have not simply succeeded in isolated subjects, but have secured strong portfolios of qualifications.

Every student in the cohort achieved at least one qualification.

A highly ambitious academic curriculum

We are equally proud that our students have been given access to an ambitious and academically rigorous curriculum. 54.2% of the cohort entered the full English Baccalaureate (EBacc). Of the whole cohort, 36.4% achieved the EBacc at the standard pass threshold and 23.7% achieved it at the strong pass threshold.

The latest national figures show that 25.8% of pupils achieved all five components of the EBacc at grade 4+ and 18.7% achieved them at grade 5+ in 2025. Our corresponding outcomes of 36.4% and 23.7% are therefore above those national benchmarks.

Our EBacc Average Point Score was 4.84, compared with a national figure of 4.09 in 2025.

Science achievement is a major strength

Science outcomes provide another significant success story.

Of students entered for the two-science element, 78.6% achieved the standard pass threshold and 65.0% achieved the strong pass threshold.

Our students' average point score for the science element was 5.20, considerably higher than the 4.47 comparison figure within the SISRA dataset.

Languages thriving at Belle Vue

Our commitment to languages also produced impressive outcomes.

Of those entered for the languages element, 83.3% achieved the standard pass threshold, with 62.1% achieving the strong pass threshold.

This is particularly encouraging in the context of the national picture, where languages remain the lowest-attaining of the five EBacc pillars.

High attainment at the top end

Our results are not simply about students reaching key thresholds. Significant numbers achieved the very highest GCSE grades.

15.3% of students achieved grades 7–9 in both English and mathematics, while 44.1% achieved grades 7–9 in English and 17.8% achieved grades 7–9 in mathematics.

This demonstrates the academy's commitment to ensuring that students of all starting points, including our highest attainers, are challenged to achieve excellence.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!!

These outcomes have particular significance for Co-op Academy Belle Vue.

This was the cohort that began the journey with us and became our first GCSE graduating class. They have helped establish the culture, expectations and ambition that will shape generations of Belle Vue students who follow them.

Their achievements demonstrate our belief that where a young person starts should never determine where they finish.
