As part of our popular Podcast Enrichment elective, a talented group of Year 8 pupils had the exciting opportunity to host a very special guest: Green Party MP Hannah Spencer.

Our pupils took complete ownership of the episode from start to finish. Ahead of the interview, they spent time researching key community issues and writing their own thoughtful questions completely independently.

When the recording began, the team demonstrated outstanding poise, maturity, and communication skills. They led the entire conversation themselves, posing sharp and well-prepared questions about topics that matter to local families and young people today.

Mr Howarth, Head of Year 8, was immensely proud of how the pupils handled the experience.

"I was blown away by their confidence and abilities when asking a real life MP questions that the BBC would’ve been proud of!" said Mr Howarth. "Hannah genuinely couldn’t believe that I had no input and the questions were all their own work!"

Enrichment activities like our podcast club give pupils a platform to find their voice, build self-belief, and develop real-world skills for future careers. Taking on a high-profile interview with such professionalism shows the high levels of ambition and independence our young people possess.

We are so proud of our Year 8 podcasters for representing Belle Vue so brilliantly and showing true character throughout the interview.
